Thille/Montalvo in Ventura is mostly quiet residential streets, but tucked in toward the back end of the neighborhood there are a handful of gated HOA complexes that can make a locksmith call more complicated than it needs to be.
An HOA president called me because his 2018 Ram ProMaster was sitting dead in the back lot of one of those complexes. No working fob, no way to get the van out without a key, and the tow company was telling him they needed a resident escort just to get a flatbed inside the gate. The dealer's advice was to sort out the tow logistics first and then bring it in. That was going to be a two-day ordeal minimum.

Everything I needed was in my bag. I pulled the fob apart first, checked the battery and contacts, then connected my programmer to the OBD port. The ProMaster's immobilizer keeps the PIN protected, so I read it directly from the module rather than guessing. Once I had the PIN, I generated and registered a fresh remote, tested all three buttons, verified the ignition started clean, and walked around the van confirming everything was live.
The van never left the lot. He paid a fraction of what the dealer quoted, and he didn't lose two days to tow logistics. He just drove out.
