Out in the Pierpont neighborhood in Ventura, down one of those sandy side roads near the beach, an equestrian trainer texted me a GPS pin. Her 2019 Ram Promaster was parked on a dirt track between horse paddocks. The key had gotten stepped on in the barn. Fob shell cracked open, blade snapped clean off.

I pulled up, popped the hood, and got to work. Used my ACDP to back up the WIN module data first, because on these Promasters you do not want to lose that if something hiccups mid-program. Decoded the door lock cylinder, cut a fresh blade on the mobile unit, and built out a complete replacement RX2TRF198 fob with a new CR2032.
The part that always matters more than speed is the walkaround after. Lock, unlock, panic button. Door by door. Ignition cycle. I stood there watching the dash for the red security light to confirm the immobilizer handshake cleared. It did.
She was leaning on a fence post the whole time, watching the horses more than me. When the Promaster fired up on that dirt road, she just nodded like she expected it to work. Best kind of reaction.
A dealer would have meant a tow, a wait, and a bill that looked nothing like mine.
