An auto parts vendor working out at Fisherman's Wharf at the Harbor in Oxnard flagged me down on a Sunday. He was set up between the swap meet tables, selling aftermarket stuff out of his 2020 Ram Promaster, and his only working fob had stopped starting the van that morning.

I pulled up next to his van in the lot. The fob was an RX2TRF198, 3-button remote with a transponder chip inside that talks to the Sentry Key module through the RF hub. I plugged into the OBD port, authenticated through the secure gateway, generated a new transponder profile matched to his WIN module, and wrote it to a fresh fob. Twist the key, engine starts. Lock, unlock, panic, all three buttons responding.
He stood there holding both fobs, the dead one and the new one, turning them over like he was comparing packaging on a shelf. Occupational habit.
The whole job took about 25 minutes. His van sat in the same parking spot the entire time. The Promaster does not care whether its key got programmed in a service bay or a swap meet lot.
