While he watched, I popped the remote case open and showed him the CR2032 orientation and the clip that holds it. Small thing, but now he will know what is happening when range starts to drop instead of assuming the whole remote is dead.

He stayed home, kept his morning, and paid a fraction of what the dealer quoted for a single key. He walked to class with two working sets in his bag.
