A woman parked at Village at the Park in Camarillo and came back to a key that would turn but not do anything remotely. Locks, unlock, nothing. She figured it was the battery and swapped it at the CVS nearby. Same result.

The CR2016 is noticeably thinner and when you drop a CR2032 in, it sits proud and the contact pressure is inconsistent. Sometimes it works for a day, sometimes it doesn't make contact at all. Swapped in the correct CR2016, reseated the contact plate, and the remote came back immediately. No programming needed at that point because the key itself was never the problem.

I tested every button, confirmed the ignition turned cleanly, and walked the full function before I called it done.

She saved the dealer trip entirely. No tow, no waiting until Thursday, no disruption to the rest of her week. The fix was less than an hour from her first call.
