Got a call from a woman at the Walgreens in the Erbes Road neighborhood, Thousand Oaks. She needed a spare for her 2002 Toyota Echo and she had already done her homework on me before dialing.

The Echo runs a 4C transponder chip in the key blade and a standalone BAB237131-056 remote for locks. Two separate pieces to deal with. I cut the TOY43 blade on site, cloned the 4C chip to match her immobilizer ECU, then programmed the remote using the OBD door-lock sequence that Toyota built into these first-gen Echos. Opened, locked, panic, all three buttons confirmed working from about 20 feet out.
She watched the whole thing from the parking lot, maybe five feet away. When I handed her the spare and a proper receipt with my license number printed on it, she just looked at it and nodded. That was the whole point for her. Not the savings over the dealer, not the convenience. She wanted proof she was dealing with someone real.
