2003 Toyota Solara Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A guy visiting his in-laws over in North Ranch in Thousand Oaks called me about his 2003 Solara. He wanted a spare he'd actually carry every day, not an emergency key buried in a drawer somewhere. His first question, before he even said hello properly, was whether an aftermarket fob would be as good as the dealer part.

It's a fair question and I'd rather answer it honestly than dodge it.

The factory fob for his year uses a CR2032 and has four buttons. The aftermarket blanks I carry are sourced from suppliers I've tested across a lot of Toyota work. Same button count, same battery, same circuit layout, correct transponder chip generation for the immobilizer on that car. What's missing is the Toyota logo on the back of the housing.

I cut the blade to his vehicle on my machine, programmed the fob, and walked every button with him standing there. Locks, unlock, the other two. Everything confirmed working before I put my tools away.

He asked about the dealer route mostly out of habit. I told him what I've seen on quotes for this job - it's not close. He saved a good chunk and drove away with a key he said felt as solid as his original.
