She was at the farm-to-table spot near Ojai Meadows Preserve when her purse got snatched right off the back of her chair. Keys, wallet, phone, all of it gone. She borrowed the server's phone, called the police, then her partner called me.
Her 2002 Volvo S40 was sitting in the lot with zero keys. The Volvo dealer told her partner five to seven business days, a tow to the shop, and a full CEM reprogram since the stolen remote could still unlock the doors. The estimate was steep before they even added the tow.

All-keys-lost on the first-gen S40 means I pull the CEM, read the EEPROM data on the bench, wipe the old key memory so the stolen unit is dead to the car, and write in new key data. The ID48 transponder chip has to be virgin, matched to the immobilizer from scratch. I cut the new blade to code on the spot, registered the transponder through the CEM, and programmed the remote separately.
Both new keys were turning the ignition and locking the doors before the police even called back with a case number. She drove home that night.
The stolen key and remote are electronically dead now. Once you wipe the CEM memory, the old hardware is just plastic and metal. That peace of mind mattered more to her than the savings over the dealer, but she got both.
