2006 Volvo S40 Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Got a call around 2am from a guy near Libbey Park in Ojai. His 2006 S40 was sitting in the driveway, and his only remote head key had just quit on him. Push the button, nothing. Stick the key in the ignition, the immobilizer light stays solid, engine won't crank. He was already looking up flatbed prices for the morning, figuring a dealer visit was the only move.

Pulled up about 2:30, connected my programmer to the OBD-II port, and started working through the CEM on his S40. The Volvo P1 platform immobilizer needs the CEM security data read before you can register a new key. His module cooperated, the transponder data wrote clean, and I cut and programmed a new KR55WK49250 right there on his driveway.
Tested all five buttons: lock, unlock, trunk, panic, and the Volvo hold-to-close feature. Remote range was good from well past the end of the driveway. Ignition started on the first turn.
He just stood there in his slippers watching, like he expected something else to go wrong. When it didn't, he kind of shrugged and said, "I thought this would take days."
The whole thing was done before 3am. A dealer would have meant a tow, a wait for business hours, and a bill for way more than what he paid me.
