Not a fob problem. The fob handles your door locks and that is it on this truck. The security warning on the dash is coming from the immobilizer side, which reads the transponder chip in the blade when you turn the ignition.

If the truck starts and runs normally, a warning that clears on its own is often a momentary glitch in how the immobilizer read the chip, sometimes caused by a worn key blade that is not sitting cleanly in the cylinder, or a key that has been copied badly and the chip signal is weak.

If the truck starts and then stalls within a few seconds, that is the immobilizer cutting the engine because it did not get a clean read from the chip. That is a different job than a fob replacement. I can diagnose it on site in Spring Valley Village, but the fix involves the ignition system, not the remote.

I bought a used 2006 Colorado and it came with only one key. Should I get a spare made now or wait until I need one?
