2015 Chevrolet Colorado Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from an older couple in the Border Area of San Ysidro.
They lived a short walk from the port of entry, which sounds convenient until you realize the nearest Chevy dealer is a freeway run neither of them was comfortable making anymore. They had one key for their 2015 Colorado and it had started acting up, not a dead battery situation, just inconsistent enough to worry them. They wanted a spare cut and programmed before the one they had gave out entirely.
I showed up at their driveway that morning. The Colorado was parked in the shade of their garage, engine cold, one key on the kitchen counter. I decoded the existing key, cut a fresh blade to match, then ran the transponder programming through the OBD port. The system accepted the new key on the first cycle. Second key, same process.
The whole thing was done before the sun hit the driveway.
They had looked into the dealer option. Getting there meant asking a neighbor for a ride or calling a car service, and the dealer had quoted them a number that made the neighbor option feel insulting. I charged them a fraction of that quote, and they did not have to leave the house.
Before I packed up, I walked them through what to watch for if a transponder key is starting to fail, and reminded them that a spare in the drawer is a lot cheaper than a tow when you're down to zero keys.
