2011 Chevrolet Colorado Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call at 5:50 in the morning from a warehouse worker out in Shadowridge. His shift started at 6.
His 2011 Colorado key had cracked overnight, and the blade had snapped off inside the ignition. He wasn't sure if the piece was deep in the cylinder or just sitting at the opening. You could hear it in his voice -- not panic exactly, more like someone doing the math on how bad this morning was about to get. The foreman was already at the gate.
I keep the van stocked and I run early. I was pulling into the lot in about 20 minutes.
The broken blade was just inside the keyway, close enough to extract with the right tool. Once it was out I decoded the lock to get the cut, then cut a replacement key blade and programmed the transponder chip to the truck. The engine fired and held -- no crank-and-stall, which is the thing that tells you the programming actually took. I handed him a second key too, labeled for the glovebox, so he wouldn't be back in this spot a year from now.
He clocked in at 6:30. He texted me that afternoon, just a short one. Those are the calls I remember -- not because anything dramatic happened, but because the timing actually mattered and I made it.
