2023 Chevrolet Colorado Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A woman in North Park called me on a Tuesday afternoon. She worked from home and her Colorado was sitting in the driveway, but she only had one key. Not a lost key situation. Just a one-key household that had been one-key for a year because she kept putting off getting a spare made.
Then her kid grabbed the fob off the counter and the battery died somewhere between the kitchen and the backyard. She found the fob, swapped the battery herself, and the remote worked again. But now she wanted a backup before it happened again with the actual key.
She'd called the dealer first. They told her to bring the truck in during service hours, which meant a weekday morning drop-off. She couldn't do that without rearranging her whole schedule.
I pulled up to her driveway just after lunch. The job on a 2023 Colorado involves programming both the replacement key and the fob through the OBD port. You can't do one without doing both at the same time if you want everything enrolled correctly. I had the right blank, cut the blade on site, connected to the vehicle, and ran the programming sequence. Took about 25 minutes start to finish.
She tested the new key in the ignition, tested the fob buttons, and we were done before her next video call. No tow, no appointment, no waiting for parts to be ordered. She mentioned the dealer had quoted her a number that made her pause before she even asked about scheduling. She saved a good chunk just by making one phone call first.
