A guy flagged me down near RB Town Center. Not literally, but close enough. He'd found me online while sitting in the parking lot of the gym, key in hand, truck not cooperating.
He'd had a remote-start system installed a few months back. Since then, the 2025 Colorado had been giving him intermittent no-start events. Not every day, but enough that he'd started leaving early to give himself buffer time in case he needed to fight with it. The dealer told him it was likely the ignition system and quoted him a full diagnosis plus parts. He was skeptical.
I started with the obvious: tested the fob, confirmed the CR2450 was still in spec, and verified the truck was actually reading the remote. Everything on the key side checked out. Then I pulled back the trim behind the dash and found what I expected. The remote-start installer had routed the harness through a spot where it was under tension every time the column moved. One connector wasn't fully seated. That was it.
Reseated the connector, secured the harness so it had some slack, and confirmed the remote and the immobilizer were both talking to the truck normally. He started it four times in a row just to be sure.
The dealer's diagnosis quote alone would have been more than my entire job. And they hadn't even looked at the aftermarket install as a possible cause.
