If a fresh battery doesn't bring the buttons back, the next step is standing close to the driver door and testing range. If it only works within a foot or two, the fob's transmitter is weakening. If it doesn't work at all from any distance, the receiver module in the vehicle is worth checking. That's a different fix than a fob replacement, and worth knowing before you buy a new key.
