I can program it as long as it's the correct fob for this vehicle. The catch owners run into is buying a fob that looks identical but carries a different factory FCC ID. On the 2022 Tahoe, the fob has to match the correct identifier for the vehicle's security system to accept enrollment. A fob with the wrong ID will sit in the programmer and either throw an incompatibility error or appear to enroll but never actually communicate with the vehicle.

One door handle stopped waking up the Tahoe. The other handles work fine. Is the fob going bad?

Probably not the fob. If the vehicle wakes up at the other handles and the ignition still sees the fob normally, the key is doing its job. Isolated handle failures on this generation of full-size GM trucks are a known complaint on owner forums, and the pattern almost always points to the door handle sensor or the wiring behind that specific handle, not the fob itself.

Wipe the handle area clean, make sure nothing is blocking the sensor zone, and retest. If it stays dead at just that one handle, that's a door-side diagnosis, not a key replacement job.
