2019 Chevrolet Tahoe Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was parked near the CVS in Downtown Santee when she pulled up alongside my van and just sat there for a second before getting out.
She had her phone in her hand and was checking something on it. Turned out she was pulling up the BSIS lookup to confirm my license number before walking over. Her last experience with a locksmith had gone badly enough that she was done taking anyone at their word. The guy had shown up in a personal car, handed her a handwritten receipt with no company name on it, and the phone number on that receipt was dead within a week. She needed a spare fob for her 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe and she wasn't going through that again.
I showed her the van, the license decal, the insurance certificate I keep clipped to the visor. She nodded and said okay, let's do it.
The fob she wanted copied was the factory six-button unit. Battery was fine, everything working. She just wanted a spare in the house in case. I connected through the OBD port, pulled up the vehicle's current key memory, verified the existing fob was enrolled correctly, and added the new one. Took about twenty minutes on site.
She asked at the end what the dealer had quoted. I told her to call and find out just so she'd have the number for next time. She called right there. The service advisor gave her a price that made her laugh a little.
She got a real receipt, a real license number, and a fob that worked before I left the parking lot.
