2018 Honda CR-V Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in The Crosby section of Rancho Santa Fe, an older gentleman called about his 2018 CR-V. He used a cane, and getting anywhere without his car was a real ordeal.
His daughter handled most of his errands but she was out of town. His one key was acting up, remote functions going inconsistent, and he wanted a spare made before the whole thing gave out. He was not asking for much. Just a backup, done at his place.
I pulled up to his building that morning. The car was right there in the parking area, which is exactly why mobile makes sense for this neighborhood.
The job was add-a-key, so his original fob stayed enrolled. I connected through the OBD port, registered the new fob alongside his existing one, verified the transponder was paired, and cut the replacement blade to match his lock. Then I walked him through every button on the new fob while he was standing there, so he knew what worked before I left.
He mentioned the dealer had quoted him a figure he was not happy about, and that was before factoring in how he would even get there. I do not get into numbers here, but he said he saved a good chunk and did not have to leave his building once.
That is the job. Show up, do it right, leave the customer with a tested key.
