A food truck operator near The Bridges had his key snap in the ignition of his 2024 Honda CR-V early one morning. Half the blade was stuck in the cylinder and the other half was in his hand. His car uses a separate remote fob, FCC ID KR5TP-4, so the fob was fine. I just needed to cut and program a new transponder blade. The immobilizer accepted the new chip after one registration cycle.
He was back on the road in under an hour from when he called, and the total bill was $254. A dealer would have charged $453 minimum plus the tow and a multi-day wait. A snapped key at a food lot feels like a disaster. For these older Hondas, it's one of the simplest jobs I run.
