South Poway is one of those areas where the trailheads and the parking lots are close enough to civilization on a map, but far enough in practice that a tow truck takes a while and a dealer is not a realistic option on a Saturday.
A trail runner called me from one of those lots. He had been out for a long run, came back to his 2021 CR-V, and the fob was gone. Somewhere on the trail, somewhere in the dirt. Not coming back. The car was locked, and he had no spare at home.

I backed up his immobilizer data through the OBD port as a precaution before touching anything, built a replacement fob on site, programmed it to the car, and cut the emergency insert blade to match his door and ignition. Tested every function in that parking lot before I called it done.
His CR-V started in the same spot it had been sitting all morning. He was back on the road before the dealer had even confirmed whether the part was in stock. The tow he almost paid for would have cost more than the entire job.
