A food truck owner in Simi Valley flagged me down between the lunch rush dying off near the Texas Tract neighborhood. His 2004 Acura TSX had one working key left, and the blade was worn enough that it barely turned the cylinder without wiggling.

I cut a fresh HD108 blade on site using his existing key as a reference and decoded the cuts to verify against wear. Then I connected through the OBD-II port with my programmer, pulled the immobilizer data from the ECU, and wrote a T5 transponder chip matched to his car. The whole process from parking to handing him a finished key took about twenty minutes.
He turned it over twice just to make sure. The green key light on the dash came on, went off, engine fired. He checked the doors, checked the trunk, then put the old worn key in his glovebox as a backup.
His truck was already warming up again before I finished packing my tools. The car does not care where the key gets programmed. The handshake between the chip and the immobilizer ECU is the same whether it happens in a dealer bay or a parking lot.
