2013 Acura TSX Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
She was at a shopping center in Camarillo when someone grabbed her purse while she was loading bags into her car. Keys, wallet, phone, everything gone. She borrowed a phone from another shopper and called her husband first, then the police, then me.
Her 2013 Acura TSX was sitting in that lot with zero keys. The Acura dealer told her husband they could order a key, but it would take three to five business days, the car would need to be towed in, and they recommended rekeying the locks since the stolen fob could still open the doors. The combined estimate was not a small number.
I got there that evening. All-keys-lost on this car is a different job than adding a spare. When there is already a working key, the car trusts it and registers a new one alongside it. With AKL, I wipe the entire key memory and start fresh so the stolen fob cannot start the engine. I connected my programmer to the OBD port, cleared the old key data, and enrolled two new flip fobs from scratch. Then I decoded the lock cylinder and cut both replacement blades on site.
She was still on the phone with the police report when I finished testing both fobs, walking every button, checking the lock and unlock range, and confirming the blade turned clean in the ignition and the driver door cylinder.
She drove home that night. The stolen fob can still touch the door handle all it wants. The immobilizer does not know it anymore. Total time on site was under an hour.
The dealer estimate plus a tow and a multi-day wait was the other path. She took mine instead and saved a good chunk.
