Her 2013 Acura TSX was sitting in that lot with zero keys. She was still on the phone with the police report when I finished testing both fobs, walking every button, checking the lock and unlock range, and confirming the blade turned clean in the ignition and the driver door cylinder.
She drove home that night. The stolen fob can still touch the door handle all it wants. The immobilizer does not know it anymore. Total time on site was under an hour.
The dealer estimate plus a tow and a multi-day wait was the other path. She took mine instead and saved a good chunk.
