In Camarillo, over in the Ventura Boulevard shopping area, a TSX owner walked out and did the pocket pat twice. Nothing. His only flip key was gone.
Doors locked. No spare. No way to avoid a tow unless someone showed up with the right gear.
I confirmed ownership, then got to work. The 2010 TSX runs a Hitag2 ID46 immobilizer through the Honda IMMO system. All keys lost on these means I have to pull the security seed through the OBD-II port, generate the correct response, and register a fresh transponder from scratch. No shortcut ignition dance, no self-programming option. The PCF7961 chip has to handshake with the immobilizer ECU or the engine cranks for about one second and dies.
I programmed a new MLBHLIK-1T flip key, then cut the high-security sidewinder blade to match his locks on site. Honda sidewinder is a pain to get right freehand, but that is the job.
Then the truth loop. Start. Idle. Kill it. Restart. Lock. Unlock. Trunk release. Panic button. No green key light on the dash. No stall. Just a normal TSX again.
He stared at the key like it might vanish too. Then he drove off from the same parking spot, no tow truck, no dealer service lane, no week-long wait for a VIN-cut key to ship in.
