2006 Acura TSX
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2006 Acura TSX Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Got a call from a teacher over near Simi Hills on a Tuesday morning. She had a 2006 Acura TSX and one key. That key had taken a beating, the plastic head was cracked all the way through, and she was holding the blade and the head as two separate pieces when she called me. Car was at the school lot. She had thirty minutes before her first class.

I was already in the area.

When I got there she had the two halves of the key laid out on the hood like she was presenting evidence. The blade was fine, no bends, no wear. The problem was the key head and the chip inside it. A cracked housing like that lets moisture in and the chip connection gets unreliable fast, sometimes it works, sometimes the car just sits there cranking and going nowhere.

I cut a new key blade to the vehicle and programmed the replacement transponder chip at the OBD port. The immobilizer registered the new key without any drama. Total time on site was under thirty minutes. She was back inside before the bell.

She mentioned the dealer had told her they could fit her in Thursday. That was two days away and she needed one working key to get home that afternoon. The dealer comparison was almost beside the point. She just needed the problem solved that morning, and it was.
