Got a call from the Santa Susana area in Simi Valley. A personal trainer locked out at his gym parking lot, one key to his name, and it just gave up on him.
The story was the usual one. Bought the 2008 TSX used with a single key. Always meant to get a spare. Two and a half years later the plastic housing cracked down the middle and the blade snapped when he tried to turn it in the door lock. He was standing there holding two pieces of a key and staring at a car he couldn't get into.
I Lishi-decoded the driver's door lock to get in, then pulled the broken blade stub from the ignition cylinder. His transponder chip, the ID48, was still intact inside the cracked housing. That matters. With a readable chip I could pull the crypto data using my VVDI Key Tool and clone it onto a fresh ID48 chip in a new key blank. No need for a full all-keys-lost immobilizer reset through the OBD port, which takes longer and costs more.
Cut a new HD111 blade on site, seated the cloned chip, and tested it. Ignition turned, green key light came on steady, engine fired right up. Then I cut a second spare so he'd never be the one-key guy again.
Two working keys in about 35 minutes, right there in the lot. He said the dealer quoted him something that made him wince. This was a fraction of that.
