Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2014 Acura TSX Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a man in Las Posas Estates, one of those quiet residential pockets just off the main roads in Camarillo. He was older, used a cane, and explained right away that driving across town wasn't really an option for him.

His daughter usually handled errands like this but she was away for the week. His 2014 Acura TSX was his lifeline for medical appointments, and the only key he had wasn't working reliably anymore.

When I pulled up, the car was sitting in his parking spot in good shape. He'd been babying it. The remote flip key was the original, and the fob body had that worn-smooth look you get from years of being in a pocket. The blade was stiff in the ignition too, not catastrophic, but the kind of resistance that tells you the cuts are fighting the tumblers a little.

I decoded the lock mechanically on the spot, cut a fresh blade verified against the lock, and programmed the transponder through the OBD port. The fob, four buttons, paired at the same time. I loaded a second key so he'd have a spare, which he'd never had. Showed him the CR1616 battery and where it lives in the fob so he'd recognize what to replace if the remote range ever started to drop.

He didn't have to call his daughter, arrange a ride, or sit in a dealer waiting room for two hours on the other side of Camarillo. The whole job was done in his parking lot. He had two working keys before I left, and the blade turned clean.

The dealer quote he'd gotten over the phone was for a single key and was well into the mid-hundreds. He paid a fraction of that for two.
