2012 Acura TSX
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2012 Acura TSX Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A call came in from Mission Oaks, Camarillo, around 10 at night. She worked nursing, just finished a double, and her only key to the 2012 TSX was gone somewhere between the hospital and the grocery store parking lot. She wasn't sure if it fell out of her scrubs or got left in a locker. Either way, it was not coming back that night.

She was ready to call a tow just to get the car moved somewhere she felt safe leaving it. I told her to hold off.

First thing I walked her through was finding the VIN through the windshield. She found it on the first try once she knew where to look. Her insurance app had the rest of what I needed for ownership verification. By the time I was loading up the van, I already knew the key type and had the right blank with me.

When I got there she was sitting on a bench near the cart return, still in her scrubs. I set up under the parking lot lights, built the flip key, and ran the all-keys-lost procedure through the OBD port. The TSX immobilizer does have a timed sequence during that process, so I talked her through what was happening instead of just staring at the tool in silence. Once the fob was registered and tested, I walked every button with her watching.

She drove home. The dealer was closed and would have needed the car towed in anyway. She saved a good chunk, and more importantly she didn't spend the night waiting on a flatbed.

The VIN is the one thing I always ask for first. On the 2012 TSX it tells me the key type, the programming path, and exactly what I need to bring. If you can read it off the windshield or pull it from your insurance app, we're already halfway there before I leave Mission Oaks.
