Crossroads Shopping Center in Camarillo, Saturday afternoon. A 2011 Acura TSX parked near the end of a row with hazards blinking and the owner pacing next to it holding an empty key ring. He had one flip key and it was gone.
I set up on the curb and got eyes on the ignition. Turn-to-start car, not a proximity fob system. On these second-gen TSX sedans, the MLBHLIK-1T key head carries the Philips Crypto ID46 transponder chip, so no key means no start, period. The immobilizer won't even let the starter crank.
I picked the door, pulled the ignition wafer cuts, and cut an HO01 blade on my machine right there on the sidewalk. Built the flip key, four buttons, fresh CR1616 inside. Then the part that actually matters: I connected at the OBD-II port, ran through the immobilizer registration with the add-and-delete routine, paired the transponder, and synced all four remote buttons.
When it fired up he just sat in the driver's seat for a second, hand on the wheel, staring at the dash like it owed him an apology. He told me he already called the Acura dealer. They wanted him to tow it in, bring his title, and wait while they ordered the blank. He said the word "week" like it physically hurt him.
He drove out of the Crossroads lot under his own power about 40 minutes after I pulled up.
