A Z4 owner off Collins Drive in Moorpark hiked one of the trails above the corridor and came back to the parking area with no key. Somewhere between the trailhead and the turnaround, it slipped out of a zippered pocket that wasn't zipped. He searched twice. Nothing.
No spare at home. His only key was gone in the brush.
He got a ride to a spot with signal and called me. I loaded up everything for a 2009 Z4 CAS3+ job and drove out. The car was sitting in a dirt pullout, hood facing downhill, not going anywhere without a working key.
I decoded the HU92 lock on the driver door, cut a fresh laser-track blade on my mobile station, then pulled the CAS3+ module from behind the glove box to bench-read it with the ACDP. That gives me the ISN and key data I need to build and sync a new LX8FZV fob with the PCF7945 chip inside. Once the module went back in and the new key was registered, I tested remote lock, unlock, trunk release, and a cold start.
Car fired up right there in the dirt. He just sat in the driver seat for a second, hands on the wheel, like he was making sure it was real.
The whole job happened on a hillside pullout. A dealer would have needed a flatbed first and the car sitting in their lot for days. He drove home instead.
