I got a call from a guy in the Botanic Garden Area of Thousand Oaks, outside a medical office. He was on crutches, post-surgery, and his 2022 Encore had stopped recognizing his only smart key. Tested every button, walked both doors, confirmed the start button recognized the fob from normal sitting distance. He came out on his crutches, sat in the driver seat, and the car started without a word from either of us. That was enough.

He mentioned the dealer had told him he'd need an appointment, probably later that week, and the quote was steep enough that he'd asked his wife to call around. He saved a good chunk going the mobile route, and more importantly, he didn't have to go anywhere.
