2026 Buick Encore
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2026 Buick Encore Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a guy up in the Hillsides neighborhood of Ventura, third-shift warehouse worker, pulling into his driveway around midnight after a long day. He grabbed his fob, got out, and the car would not acknowledge the key.

Stood there clicking. Nothing. He figured his only move was a tow and a dealer appointment, which meant paying for the tow, waiting days for a service slot, and taking time off work he didn't have.

He called me instead.

By the time I got to his driveway the situation was clear. The fob itself had not totally failed, but the car had dropped it from memory entirely. All-keys-lost on a current GM proximity system like this one goes through the OBD port with proper diagnostic equipment and security access. No bench work needed this time, which I was glad to confirm once I pulled up the module.

I connected, ran the security sequence, registered the new fob, and walked every function: passive entry on both front handles, the start button, all four buttons on the remote. Everything came back clean. He was standing in his driveway watching the whole thing happen under my work light, looking mildly stunned that it didn't involve a flatbed.

The dealer route, plus a tow, would have cost him a significant amount more. He asked if it always goes that fast. Honest answer: usually yes, but if a body control module is corrupted or locked down, that changes the job. I always tell people upfront before I start.
