2007 Ford Freestyle Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A couple near Linden Avenue in Carpinteria came out of a Friday night movie to a 2007 Ford Freestyle that would not start. The remote head key was dead. No lock chirp, no response, nothing. They figured the car was done for the night and they would deal with it Monday.

I was about 15 minutes out with the right HU101 blank already in the van. Not ordered, not on the way. Sitting in a labeled drawer behind my seat. I keep OUCD6000022 shells, CR2032 cells, and 4D63 80-bit chips stocked because the Freestyle, Five Hundred, and Montego all share that same PATS setup and I see them regularly.
When I got there, I popped the fob open on the hood. The CR2032 was corroded and the battery contact pad had green buildup. Cleaned the contacts, dropped in a fresh cell, and the remote came back to life. Lock, unlock, trunk, all three buttons good. Then I verified the transponder was still reading through the PATS by cycling the ignition twice and watching for the theft light. Solid off after two seconds. Good read.
The whole thing was maybe 20 minutes. They drove home that Friday night. He kept shaking his head like he could not believe they almost left the car in a parking lot over a battery.
