2005 Hyundai Tucson Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a woman over in Hollister Village, Goleta. She had a 2005 Tucson and her remote had stopped locking the doors reliably. Sometimes it worked from across the parking lot, sometimes she had to stand right next to the door. She had already swapped the battery herself, which was the right move, but the range never came back to where it was.
When I got there I pulled the fob open on the hood. The battery she had put in was seated fine, but the positive contact had a small upward bow in it, just enough to make intermittent contact. I straightened it out, cleaned both contacts, and popped in a fresh CR2032 from my kit for a clean baseline.
Then I walked the vehicle. Tested lock and unlock from about thirty feet out, then further. Tested each button. Checked that the blade key still turned clean in the cylinder. Ran through it a few times to make sure the range was consistent, not just a lucky shot.
The remote was solid after that. She had been expecting me to either say it needed replacing or to hand it back after two minutes. Walking the lot and running through every function was not what she expected, but that is the part that tells you whether the fix actually held.
No programming was needed on this one. Just a mechanical issue inside the fob housing. She saved what the dealer would have charged for a replacement fob and a programming appointment she did not need.
