2024 Hyundai Tucson
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2024 Hyundai Tucson Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A family had been camping up in the hills above Santa Barbara, one of those spots where the road turns to dirt about a mile before you actually park. They had a 2024 Hyundai Tucson and zero working keys.

Not a spare tucked in a bag, not a valet key in the glove box. The fob had gone missing somewhere between the trail and the campsite, and nobody could find it.

Push-to-start all-keys-lost is the job that stops people cold. There is no ignition cylinder to pick, no barrel to turn. The car just sits there waiting for a registered fob to show up in its proximity field. Without one, it does not move.

I drove out with my full kit. The job on a 2024 Tucson starts before any new key gets touched. The smart key module holds the registered key data, and on an all-keys-lost job that data has to be cleared and backed up before new fobs can be enrolled. I pulled the module data through the OBD port, ran the reset sequence, and brought the new fob through the registration process cleanly. First attempt accepted.

The dad stood there watching the push-to-start button light up and just said "that's it?" That's it. Running, locked, two new fobs registered, old key data gone so the missing fob is now useless to anyone who finds it.

They made it back down the dirt road and into Downtown Santa Barbara for lunch. The dealer route would have meant a tow from that hillside, days on an order, and a bill that would have ruined the camping trip a second time.
