2018 Hyundai Tucson
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2018 Hyundai Tucson Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a guy in the Hueneme Beach area, standing in an office park lot off Port Hueneme Road after dark. His only key to his 2018 Tucson was gone. He'd gone through every pocket, walked back through the building twice, checked the elevator floor. Nothing. He was already pricing tows because he figured he had no other move.

I told him to slow down. Asked him to read me the VIN off the base of the windshield on the driver's side. He found it in about thirty seconds. I also had him pull up his insurance app to confirm ownership, which he did on the spot. With that VIN I already knew he had the remote flip key setup, so I had the right fob shell, the right blade blank, and the right equipment loaded before I left.

When I pulled into the lot he was sitting on a curb with his phone at ten percent battery. I set up on the hood of my van, built the key, cut the blade to his vehicle, and programmed the transponder and the remote functions at the same time. The whole job ran under forty-five minutes. He tested the lock, unlock, and the remaining buttons himself before I packed up.

He drove home. The dealer was closed, would have needed a tow, and would have taken days to get a key ordered. Getting a spare made before you're in that spot is always the smarter call, but when you're already in it, having the VIN ready is the one thing that speeds everything up on my end.
