On site, I pulled the PIN from the vehicle through the OBD port, generated the Hitag2 transponder on my VVDI Key Tool, cut the blade under the parking lot lights, and programmed the remote. The all-keys-lost procedure on these erases any old key data, so whatever fob he lost out there was dead to the car now.
He was quiet for most of it. When the engine turned over, he just sat there for a second with his hands on the wheel, like he was making sure it was real. Then he drove home.
The dealer would have meant a tow, a wait until morning, and a bill that would have stung. He skipped all of that.
