Got a call from a guy out near Lake Casitas Recreation Area in Ventura. He'd been at the lake all afternoon, set his keys on the tailgate while loading gear, and drove off. Realized it about a mile down the road. Went back, found nothing. Somebody picked them up or they bounced into the brush.
His 2004 Infiniti I35 was sitting in the lot with zero keys. He'd already called the Infiniti dealer and got the rundown: tow it in, order the key, wait three to five business days, then pay for programming on top of the parts. He said his wife just went quiet on the phone when she heard the total.
I drove out that evening. All-keys-lost on the I35 means I'm going through the OBD-II port to talk to the NATS5 module, pulling the PIN, wiping stored key data, and registering fresh transponder codes from scratch. The key blank is an NSN14 with a 4D60 chip. I decoded his door lock with my Lishi NE38, cut two new keys on the van, and programmed both to the immobilizer.
He sat on the bumper watching and said almost nothing the whole time. When the engine turned over on the first try, he just nodded like he'd been holding his breath for two hours.
He drove home that night with two working keys. No tow, no wait, a fraction of what the dealer quoted.
