2018 Infiniti QX50 Emergency Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call out of Old Town Simi on a Thursday morning. The owner had a 2018 QX50 sitting in her driveway, dead fob, and she needed to get somewhere.
She knew about the emergency key blade inside the fob because she had actually read the manual, which almost never happens. Problem was, at some point she had pulled the blade out to open a locked cabinet at home and set it on a counter, and it had been missing for months. The fob itself was fine, battery was fine, car started and drove normally through proximity. But she had zero physical backup.
She found me because she wanted the blade replaced without touching the smart key programming at all. That is exactly the right instinct.
I decoded the blade profile from her door lock cylinder, confirmed the cut against the VIN key code, and had a replacement blade cut in the driveway. Took maybe twenty minutes total. She tested it in the door, tested it in the ignition as a backup, and that was the job.
She mentioned the dealer told her she would need to bring the car in and they would have to look at the whole key system. That kind of answer is what sends people to their phones to find a mobile locksmith. She saved real time and a good chunk of money, and she did not have to leave the neighborhood.
