2018 Infiniti QX50 Emergency Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Over near Simi Valley Town Center, a woman flagged me down in the parking structure behind the shops. Not literally, she had already called, but she was standing outside her 2018 QX50 waving the phone like I might miss her.
Her story was the common one. Bought the car CPO with one Intelligent Key. The salesperson told her to get a spare. Two years went by.
The fob had cracked along the seam near the key release button. Moisture got in over time, and eventually the PCF7952 transponder chip stopped communicating. Dashboard showed "KEY ID INCORRECT" when she tried the push-button start. She could still turn the driver door lock with the emergency blade, but that was it. Dead in the water for starting.
I pulled the cracked fob apart on the hood. The board inside, the S180144310 Continental unit, still had a readable chip. I used my VVDI2 to pull the transponder data off the damaged board since the crypto was still intact. That meant I could clone into new housings instead of running a full all-keys-lost procedure through the BCM, which would have taken longer and cost more.
Cut two fresh NI06 emergency blades, built two new fobs with cloned data, tested both on push-button start and door handles.
She went from zero working keys to two in about 40 minutes. The cracked fob saved her a bigger bill. Even broken pieces matter. Bring them.
