Got a call from over in the Montalvo neighborhood in Ventura. Guy had a 2003 Discovery II sitting in his driveway, both keys gone. One lost at the beach months ago, the other went through the wash and quit working entirely. I drove out, got the door open without damage, and decoded the lock on site. Cut a fresh CWE100710 remote head key on my portable machine right on his driveway. Then I connected to the OBD-II port under the dash and ran the all-keys-lost procedure through the BeCM, which on the Discovery II handles both the immobilizer and the remote central locking.
Programmed the ID13 transponder, synced the two-button remote at 315 MHz, and tested the full loop: ignition start, remote lock, remote unlock, walk-away range check. Cut and programmed a spare while I was there because on these trucks, getting a second key made while the system is already open saves a headache later.
He stood there watching the whole thing and at the end just said, "That's it?" That is the reaction I like.
