Cut the HK83-15K601-AA emergency blade on site, then paired the fob and tested every button: lock, unlock, tailgate release, panic, and the two-press remote start.
The part that took longest was walking the car. Passive entry at all four doors, tailgate proximity detection, push-button start from the driver seat and the passenger seat. Then I killed the engine, walked twenty feet away with the fob, came back and checked again. Everything held.
He just stood there holding the key like he expected a catch. No catch. No tow truck. No days without a car. Just the job done in his own driveway for a fraction of what the dealer wanted.
