Here's why that happens: the lock and unlock signals broadcast at a different range and frequency path than the close-range communication the start system uses to confirm the fob is inside the car.

A low CR2025 battery can still push enough signal for the remote functions but fall short on the close-range check the start system needs. That's the first thing to try.

If a fresh CR2025 doesn't fix it, the fob may have a cracked circuit board or a damaged antenna, especially if the key has been dropped. There's also a known behavior where a fob that's been near certain wireless chargers or near other electronics can get temporarily confused. Keep the fob away from your phone while testing.

If none of that clears it, the fob needs to be tested with a diagnostic tool to see whether it's the key or the vehicle's receiver side causing the no-detect condition.

I bought a replacement fob online for my 2021 CX-30. Can I program it myself?
