2023 Mazda CX-30 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Upper State Street in Santa Barbara is the kind of neighborhood where people park and walk, and a 5:15 in the morning arrival time is not unusual when someone has an early class to teach.
She had bought the CX-30 used about a year before I met her. One key in the deal, she always meant to get a spare made, and then one morning the fob housing cracked at the pivot where the key blade folds out. She forced it. The blade snapped off inside the door lock. Key head in one hand, blade stuck in the cylinder, zero working keys, class starting in forty minutes.
She called me from the parking lot.
I extracted the broken blade first, then looked at what was left. The circuit board inside the cracked housing was intact. Because the original fob was physically present and readable, I didn't have to run a full all-keys-lost reset, which saved her time and kept the cost down. I transferred what I needed into a new shell, cut a fresh blade to the vehicle, and programmed the replacement through the diagnostic port. Tested every button, walked the door handles, confirmed the start.
She made her class. The dealer had been her backup plan, and when she told me what they quoted her I just nodded. It was a lot. She saved a good chunk coming to me instead, and she didn't have to tow the car anywhere.
If your fob is cracked but the board is still alive, that matters. Bring all the pieces.
