2007 Nissan Versa Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in Faria Beach, a guy flagged me down after what should have been a simple key replacement turned into a two-week headache.
He drove for a delivery app and his 2007 Nissan Versa fob had stopped locking and unlocking remotely. Car started fine, but he was climbing out to manually lock every stop, every day. He'd already called someone off a cheap Google ad. That guy reprogrammed something, charged him a lot, and left. The remote still didn't work.
By the time he called me, he was skeptical. First thing he asked was whether I was licensed. I gave him my BSIS license number right on the phone and told him to look it up on the state website while we were talking. He did. Then we set a time.
When I got there I opened the fob case first, before touching any tool. The battery was seated fine, but I could see the previous guy had been in there, and the contact on one side was slightly bent outward. That kind of contact problem can survive a battery swap and still kill the signal. I corrected the contact, confirmed the CR2032 was properly seated, and then went through the programming process with my diagnostic equipment to make sure the fob was properly paired to the vehicle.
After that I walked every button. Lock, unlock, all four of them, from across the parking lot and up close. Clean response each time.
He asked what the dealer would have charged to sort this out from the start. A good chunk more, and he would have sat there waiting for a bay opening. I was in and out in under an hour, at his location.
