2021 Nissan Versa
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2021 Nissan Versa Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a guy in Rancho Conejo, out in Thousand Oaks, who had lost his only key somewhere between the boat launch lot and the dock. He'd checked with the bait shop, retraced every step twice, and came up empty.

His 2021 Nissan Versa was sitting in the lot, locked, with no way in and no way home. He figured he was stuck until Monday when the dealer could see him.

I told him I could be there that afternoon.

First job was getting into the car without damage. I picked and decoded the door lock mechanically, reading each wafer position so I could cut a blade that matched the car exactly. No original key needed for that part.

Then came the electronics. All-keys-lost on the Versa's immobilizer system means connecting through the OBD port, running the erase sequence so any previously registered fobs are wiped, and then enrolling the new fob as the primary key. That part has a timed sequence built into the process, so you wait it out. No shortcuts.

His new fob, with the factory FCC ID on it, was cut, programmed, and tested right there in the lot. I made him a spare while I was set up. Both fobs started the car, locked and unlocked cleanly, and he drove home that same afternoon.

He mentioned what the dealer had quoted him over the phone, plus a tow and a Monday wait. He paid a fraction of that, on site, same day. He seemed more relieved than anything else.
