2016 Nissan Versa Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A family out near Ventura Harbor Village had a 2016 Versa Note with push-to-start and zero keys. They had been at a campground outside Ventura with no cell service until someone hiked to a ranger station. By the time they reached me, they had already been told by two shops and a Nissan dealer that Intelligent Key all-keys-lost was a tow-in-only situation.
I drove out to them. The car was just sitting there, locked, dead quiet. No physical ignition slot visible from the outside, so to them it looked bricked.
Push-to-start AKL on these is more involved than a standard 46-chip transponder job. The BCM, which on the 2016 Versa Note is tied to the NATS6 immobilizer system, has to be accessed and the old key data wiped before new fobs can register. I used my ACDP to pull a backup of the immobilizer data from the BCM first, then ran the full AKL procedure through OBD using the diagnostic port under the dash. Programmed their new CWTWB1U840, cut the emergency insert blade on site, tested all five buttons, proximity detection at every door handle, and push-button start.
Their car started at a campground with no tow truck and no dealer. The dad just stood there watching the dash like he expected it to argue.
