2002 Pontiac Grand Am Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A Birnam Wood call came in on a Tuesday afternoon. The owner had two remotes for her 2002 Grand Am and neither one was doing much of anything. Lock button, nothing. Unlock button, nothing. She figured both fobs died at the same time, which happens, but two at once made me wonder before I even pulled up.
I got there and she handed me both remotes. One was original, one was a replacement she had bought online a while back. First thing I did was pop both open on the hood of my van. The original had a CR2032 that tested low, not dead but weak enough to cut range to almost zero. The replacement fob had the right battery but the internal contact clip was bent out, barely touching the cell.
Fixed the clip on the second one, fresh CR2032 in the first, and walked both remotes through every button at distance. Both came back clean.
She had been about to drive to the dealer in the other direction, fully expecting to be told she needed two new remotes programmed and the associated wait and cost that comes with that trip. Instead the whole call was under thirty minutes in her driveway, and what she paid was a fraction of what they wanted just to look at it.
Sometimes two dead fobs is just two easy fixes sharing the same afternoon.

“My car keys were stolen on a cold evening and Nick drove all the way out to Santa Barbara. He got into my car, made a new key, and charged $100 less than another company. Friendly, skilled, trustworthy, and genuinely caring. Nick is a hero.”
“Tim is a hero. He programmed a master proximity key for a newer Volkswagen that multiple locksmiths refused to touch. He spent hours until late at night making sure every function worked perfectly. The skill level here is incredible.”
“Very professional and extremely affordable. The price was literally about three times cheaper than what my dealership quoted me. Fast service and no stress at all. Highly recommend.”
