2004 Pontiac Grand Am Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A Coast Village resident called me on a Tuesday. She had been locking and unlocking her 2004 Grand Am with the door lock button for about three weeks because the fob just stopped responding. She figured the battery had died, grabbed a CR2032 from the drugstore, popped it in herself, and nothing changed. At that point she decided it was the whole fob and called around.
I drove out to her place off Coast Village Road. Before I pulled anything out of my bag, I asked to see the fob. The CR2032 she had put in was seated fine, but the battery contact inside had a slight bend that was keeping it from making clean contact. I straightened it, reseated the battery, and tested range. Still weak and inconsistent.
So we went ahead with a replacement fob. The Grand Am on this generation supports an onboard programming sequence, which means I could complete the whole job at her car without running a cable to a laptop. Walked her through what I was doing, got the new fob enrolled, tested all four buttons at distance, verified the door locks responded cleanly.
She mentioned she had called the dealer earlier in the week. They told her to come in, leave the car, and she would hear back about timing. She ended up saving a good chunk by having me come to her instead, and the whole thing was done in her driveway before her coffee got cold.
