A woman at the laundromat in the Pleasant Valley area in Oxnard had a Venza key from another locksmith that started failing after about ten days. Mornings it would start fine. I cut a new blade to her GQ4-29T spec, programmed the correct G-chip, and seated a fresh CR2016 while I was in there since the old battery was reading low. Tested every button, cycled the lock and unlock, verified the immobilizer light went solid then off on start.
She asked how long the new one would last. I told her as long as the car does, because the chip is right this time. That is the whole difference. A key that passes for a week versus one that works for years comes down to matching the correct chip generation to the car's security protocol.
