2016 Toyota Venza Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Hollywood Beach on a weekday morning is quieter than you'd expect for Oxnard. The beach crowd hasn't fully arrived yet, the parking lot near the water is half empty, and that's exactly where I found the Venza sitting.
The owner had locked her only key inside the car the night before. A neighbor gave her a ride home, and she'd been waiting on me since 8 a.m. The fob was visible through the driver's window, sitting right on the seat.
I got her into the car first, then explained what came next. The original fob was fine, so this wasn't an all-keys-lost situation, but she wanted a spare cut and programmed while I was already there. Smart call.
I decoded the blade at the door lock, cut the new key, then connected to the OBD port and walked through the immobilizer enrollment. Toyota's system on this generation has a timed security cycle built into the process, so there's a stretch where you're just watching the screen and waiting. She asked what I was doing. I told her the system counts down on its own and there's no way to rush it. She appreciated that I said that instead of pretending to look busy.
After the timer cleared, the new key was registered. Then the part I don't skip: every button on the fob, range check from across the parking lot, and three consecutive cold starts. Not because I expect a problem, but because intermittent faults show up on the third start or not until you're in a grocery store lot at 9 p.m.
Everything checked clean. She had her original key back and a working spare before the beach crowd showed up. The dealer had quoted her a full visit, tow not included, and a wait for parts. She paid a fraction of that and never left the neighborhood.
