Got a call from a woman near Carpinteria Creek Park in Carpinteria. Her 2006 Volvo S60 key was falling apart. Buttons mushy, shell cracked along the seam, and the emergency NE66 blade was so stiff in its pivot it took two hands to flip out.

I met her in her driveway with a fresh LQNP2T-APU shell, new button pad, CR2032, and my HU66 Lishi to verify the blade cut. Popped her old fob open on the hood. Classic wear pattern I see on these P2 Volvos after years of pocket carry. The board was clean, no cracked solder joints, no corroded battery contacts. I moved the electronics into the new housing, seated the CR2032, and cut a fresh NE66 blade matched to her original.
Tested every button. Lock, unlock, trunk, panic, and the fifth button for the rear window. Then started the car twice to confirm the CEM was reading the transponder on every cycle.
She just stood there watching the dash, waiting for something to go wrong. Nothing did.
She needed a shell swap and a blade, not a full replacement. Saved a good chunk over the dealer route, and she never left her driveway.
