2011 Volvo S60 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out near Lake Casitas Recreation Area in Ojai, a woman's 2011 Volvo S60 wouldn't start from the dash slot. She'd push the key in, twist, and nothing. No crank, no click. The dash just showed "Key Not Found" and sat there.

She had already called the Volvo dealer. They told her to tow it in and quoted a new ignition module, new programmed keys, and labor. She was looking at a tow plus days without her car. A friend told her to try a mobile locksmith first.

I got there and plugged my ACDP into the OBD port. Pulled the CEM data and found a voltage-related fault, not a hardware failure. The CR2450 in her KR55WK49266 fob was reading low, just enough to confuse the CEM into thinking the key wasn't present. The ignition module itself was fine.

Cleared the fault, dropped a fresh CR2450 in, and reseated the battery contacts inside the fob. Key slid into the dash slot, turned clean, engine fired.

I showed her the fault code on my screen. She just looked at the key in the ignition like she didn't trust it yet.

The ignition module the dealer wanted to replace was never the problem. She needed a battery and a proper diagnosis, done in her parking spot, for a fraction of what they wanted.
